Greece is well known for its incredible choice of holiday destinations, not only for its famous islands but mainland too. When you are looking for a weekend retreat, there are places that are not only beautiful in the summer but are fantastic winter escapes as well. Galini Wellness Spa & Resort, is exactly that, an all year round destination perfect for a laid-back getaway.
Galini Wellness Spa & Resort: Overview
An outdoor thermal pool, mountain views and spacious wellness facilities at a neoclassical all year round resort.
Built in a neoclassical style which blends harmoniously with the surrounding environment, the hotel’s views open up to the mountainous landscape and majestic sea views. The resort comprises of a main building which is set on three floors.
Situated right in the heart of Kamena Vourla this 5-star resort is ideal for families and couples alike. Featuring an outdoor fresh water swimming pool with a separate children’s pool, an outdoor thermal pool, a 3000 square meter modern spa facilities, a beach exactly across from the hotel, a kids play corner and sport facilities.
With three restaurants and three bars to choose from (some of which only operate during the summer months), you will definitely find something to please all palettes here. Once a week a special themed dinner takes places at the resort, whereas during the rest of the days the cuisine served is mostly Greek and Italian.
We visited the resort during the days when it was snowing, which was magical indeed as the whole landscape turned white from one day to another. As you can see from my Instagram photos below.
Guestrooms: classic and cozy
Make yourself at home in one of the 226 guestrooms and suites decorated in a Mediterranean style with classic interiors and neutral colour palette adding a warm and airy feeling. We stayed in a Standard Room with a terrace overlooking the sea, with a sitting corner, flat TV and a desk.
Some of the guestrooms have carpeting and others marble floor. Our room had a marble floor and the heating was excellent.
Forty guestrooms feature bathrooms with thermal water, meaning that you can enjoy a thermal bath in your own privacy. This can be requested from the Reception one day in advance.
The marble bathroom features a bathtub. A wall mounted hairdryer (if you have long hair, I would suggest that you bring your own), Olivia amenities, bathrobes and slippers.
All guestrooms also feature a minibar, safe, daily maid service and evening turndown.
Dining and wining
All of our meals were enjoyed at the Magnolia Mediterranean restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
All meals were served in a buffet style with a variety of cold and hot appetizers, a salad bar, freshly baked pizza, pasta, grilled meats and traditional Greek dishes as well as a choice of fresh fruit and desserts. The restaurant has an open kitchen and all meats, pasta and dishes were prepared in front of us.
On Saturday evening there was a special Greek Night with a live band playing Greek and International songs. The Iason bar located on the ground floor is open all day long for coffees and drinks, where you can enjoy a relaxing evening by the fireplace.
The hotel operates on Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive basis, therefore you can choose if you would like to have some of the meals or all meals at the hotel during your stay.
Spa & Wellness
Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa which offers a great selection of treatments and facials. We spent the whole weekend in our bathrobes and slippers enjoying various body treatments, swimming in the indoor thermal pool and also were brave to swim in the snow.

Kamena Vourla and more
The resort is well positioned for scenic walks, gentle hikes, relaxing days spent on the beach or by the pool as well trips to other beautiful areas of Greece.
Skiing in winter is something you might like to consider at the nearest ski resort of Arahova, you may also visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Meteora, home to the six monasteries and the picturesque Pelion known for its 24 traditional villages. In the summer you may also visit the nearby island of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos or simply enjoy some of the action packed activities on the hotel’s menu of things to do.
The hotel is great for all ages as there is a dedicated children’s corner on the premises where parents can leave their children under the supervision of staff. There are a lot of tavernas and coffee shops in the area and it gets particularly busy during the summer months. The hotel is also located at a close proximity to many historical sites and islands for those who wish to be more active during their holidays.
